Here’s how Haaland’s 40th Champions League goal went

Erling Haaland’s goal against RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Tuesday not only helped lift Manchester City to a 3-2 comeback win, but it also happened to be the Norweigan’s 40th Champions League goal. That makes Haaland the fastest player to reach 40 goals in the comPetition, doing so in just 35 Games. The last player to reach 40 the fastest before Haaland was Ruud van Nistelrooy, who needed 45 Games to reach 40, 10 more than Haaland.

Behind Haaland and van Nistelrooy is Kylian Mbappé, who scored 40 in 59 Games. Two of the Game’s greatest goalscorers, Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski, both needed 61 Games to reach 40.

This new record comes just days after Haaland broke the Premier League record for reaching 50 goals the fastest, which he achieved in just 17 Games.
