Pep Guardiola claims 'Liverpool are better' than Man City

Pep Guardiola has conceded that Manchester City are at a disadvantage in the Premier League title race as "Liverpool are better" than his side. The reigning champions have arrested a poor run of domestic form to win back-to-back league Game s late in December, climbing back up to third place in the standings. They sit two points behind Liverpool and Aston Villa - though have played a Game fewer than Unai Emery's side - and will drop back down to fourth place if Arsenal avoid defeat at Fulham on New Year's Eve. Guardiola's Man City are going in search of a record fourth-successive Premier League title, but the Spaniard noted that Liverpool are currently in a better position to top the table come May. Fulham 2-1 Arsenal: Player ratings as Gunners miss chance to end 2023 on top

Arsenal's winless run stretched to three Game s as Fulham deservedly edged an entertaining London derby at Craven Cottage on Sunday afternoon. Bukayo Saka was on hand to open the scoring in just the fifth minute, but the hosts responded well and levelled matters through Raul Jimenez. The Gunners couldn't raise their game and some haphazard defending allowed Bobby De Cordova-Reid to slam home the winner in the 59th minute. How the game unfolded Arsenal began with killer intent and were ahead after five minutes as they hit their hosts on the counter attack. The England forward was just onside and reacted quickest to loop the ball over Bernd Leno and into the net. However, the early vibrancy from the visitors somewhat died off as Fulham worked their way back into the contest. Jimenez brought David Raya into meaningful action for the first time with a stinging drive from

Worst VAR decisions of 2023 - ranked

Manchester City defender Kyle Walker captured the innate, contradictory decision-making process of every football fan, player and manager when it comes to controversial calls from video assistant referees (VAR). "I like it when it helps us out and I don't like it when it doesn't help us out," Walker shrugged. However, some of this year's decisions made by the distant officials in Stockley Park have been so egregious they have transcended the fierce tribal aspect of Football - at least among some onlookers. Here are the worst VAR calls made in 2023. Worst VAR decisions of 2023 - ranked 10. Fabinho red card escape vs Brighton It certainly looked like a challenge worthy of a red card to Brighton's Evan Ferguson in this FA Cup clash. The entire Amex Stadium agreed and the guilt dripping from Fabinho's face showed that even the offending Liverpool player thought his afternoon was over. Seemingly referee David Coote and VAR Neil Swarbrick were the only spectat

Lionel Messi may have won the Ballon d'Or once again, but in 2023 football fans witnessed a changing of the guard at the top of the beautiful game. The next generation of talent ascended to superstardom during 2023, with Erling Haaland breaking goalscoring record after goalscoring record, Jude Bellingham dominating La Liga despite being just 20, and Kylian Mbappe continuing to be Kylian Mbappe (AKA bloody outrageously good at football). After a significant year of change in the Football ing world , we at 90min have decided to rank the 20 best Football ers of 2023. 20. William Saliba Top defender / Richard Heathcote/GettyImages Thanks to his consistently exceptional performances, William Saliba has become one of the best defenders in the world in 2023. Had he not suffered a season-ending back injury near the end of the 2022/23 campaign, there's a very good chance he'd be a Premier League champion, too. 19.
