The Galleries of the historic Providence Art Club will host celebratory receptions to open three new exhibitions on Sunday, January 22. The galleries will be open from 12-4pm and light refreshments will be served from 2-4pm. Artists will be on hand to discuss their work at this event, which is free and open to the public. On view in the Maxwell Mays Gallery, painters Bee Givan, Kelley MacDonald, and Merle Mainelli Poulton will exhibit together in the show Not Your Average Comfort Zone . A third generation Rhode Island artist and owner of the popular women’s boutique Green Ink, Givan’s work focuses on interiors of the Art Club. MacDonald and Poulton utilize more abstract forms to convey their respective visions. MacDonald’s work leverages color and mark, while Poulton will be presenting a series of paintings on the theme of The Odyssey.
