Tottenham transfers: Todibo & Branthwaite interest, Hojbjerg could dictate Gallagher move

Image
Tottenham Hotspur were able to conduct the majority of their January transfer business towards the start of the window, which is a change of pace from previous years. Chairman Daniel Levy has been known to wrap up transactions later in the window in order to try and get the best possible value out of a deal and keep options open, but Spurs moved swiftly this month to bring in Timo Werner on loan from RB Leipzig and Radu Dragusin on a permanent deal from Genoa. With time running out to buy and sell this month, here's what else is on Spurs' agenda. Interest in Jean-Clair Todibo and Jarrad Branthwaite Todibo has formed a formidable partnership with veteran defender Dante / Jean Catuffe/GettyImages Prior to signing Dragusin, Tottenham asked Ligue 1 side Nice about the availability of France centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo, but were put off by the €60m asking price. Though Spurs have still been linked with Todibo in the weeks after Dragusin's arrival, 90min understands there are

Ronald Araujo's intentions for Barcelona future amid Man Utd interest

Image
Ronald Araujo has no plans to leave Barcelona in the coming months despite tentative interest from Manchester United,  90min  understands. The 24-year-old has established himself as one of Europe's finest centre-backs in recent years and scouts from a number of top sides have followed his development closely. Reports in Germany named Bayern Munich as suitors this winter and those same outlets have added United's name to the mix. While United are admirers of Araujo, sources have confirmed to  90min  that a transfer is currently unlikely for a number of reasons. The primary stumbling block is Araujo's current happiness at Barcelona. He wants to stay and continue working with Xavi and Barca officials also have no desire to entertain offers, recognising his status as a key player for the team. An extension to his contract, which runs until 2026, is a real possibility. United are not expected to pursue a centre-back this month either. Outgoings are the primary focus at Old Traf

Kalvin Phillips sets timeline on salvaging Man City career as Newcastle revive interest

Image
Kalvin Phillips hasn't given up on salvaging his Manchester City career , but he accepts time is running out to prove himself at the Etihad Stadium. The 27-year-old joined City from Leeds United last summer in a deal worth more than £40m, but he has not been able to win over Pep Guardiola. The Spaniard has openly questioned Phillips' fitness and that has seen him start just two Premier League Game s since he moved across the Pennines - those outings came after City had wrapped up the title for a third season in a row. Sources have told 90min that Phillips and his representatives had hoped a full pre-season at City - something he didn't get under his belt last year - would make a big difference and help integrate him into Guardiola's plans, especially with the summer exit of captain Ilkay Gundogan. But that has not been the case despite Rodri's recent suspension as Guardiola has instead turned to 18-year-old Rico Lewis and Bernardo Silva to play in the deep-lying

Man City consider midfield options after cooling Lucas Paqueta interest

Manchester City are considering moves for Eberechi Eze and Matheus Nunes after backing away from a deal for Lucas Paqueta, sources have confirmed to 90min . City had been locked in talks with West Ham over a move for 25-year-old Paqueta, who had made it known behind closed doors that he wanted to join the Premier League champions. But a potential move to the Etihad Stadium has been shelved after the FA and FIFA opened an investigation into potential betting breaches from Paqueta, much to the dismay of the player and his camp who are mystified and shocked by the investigation. Paqueta played for West Ham at the weekend, scoring an injury-time penalty to condemn Chelsea to a 3-1 defeat at London Stadium, and has not been suspended while enquiries are carried out. City, meanwhile, scraped past Newcastle United 1-0 at the Etihad Stadium thanks to Julian Alvarez's goal, and they are now working behind the scenes to identify alternative targets to Paqueta. 90min understands that one p
