The Boston Red Sox will begin their interleague series with the Miami Marlins this Tuesday from Fenway Park on NESN.

Marlins Betting Preview 

Miami moved to 45-34 after taking three of four from Pittsburgh. The Marlins capitalized on the struggling Pirates with a pair of low-scoring wins over the weekend, but they may need to rev things up at Fenway this week. The Miami offense is scoring 4.00 runs per Game, while batting .260, with a .321 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.05 ERA, with a 1.28 WHIP. Luis Arraez brings a nine-Game hit streak into Boston, and he’s leading the majors in batting (.399) and hits (111). Bryan De La Cruz recorded three hits in the series finale win over Pittsburgh, and he’s posting splits of .280/8/41. Jorge Soler leads Miami in home runs (21) and RBI (45). 

Sandy Alcantara (2-6, 5.08 ERA, 78 Ks) will take the mound for Miami. The reigning Cy Young winner continues to struggle this season, and after allowing five runs in seven innings to Toronto last week, he suffered his sixth loss of the season. Alcantara has allowed four or more runs in six of his last eight starts, and it’s unclear if or when he’ll regain form at some point this season.

Red Sox Betting Preview

Boston moved to 40-39 after dropping two of three to Chicago. The Red Sox squandered at the plate in Game three to drop a second straight series, and they’ll look to get back on track here at home. The Boston offense is 4.18 scoring runs per Game, while batting .258, with a .340 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.89 ERA, with a 1.34 WHIP. Masataka Yoshida collected multiple hits in the Game one win over Chicago, and he leads Boston in batting (.299), with 39 RBI. Rafael Devers homered in the same contest, and he’s first on the team in HR (18) and RBI (60). Justin Turner has recorded a bit in eight of the last ten Games, and he’s first on the team in hits (80), with splits of .279/11/41. 

Garrett Whitlock (4-2, 4.50 ERA, 39 Ks) will open the Game for Boston. The third-year pitcher went seven full innings in Minnesota last week, while striking out six, and allowing four runs. Whitlock has pitched well over his last three outings, and he’s 3-0 through five starts since returning in late May.

Miami is 38-41 against the spread this season, with a 35-42-2 O/U record. Boston is 41-38 ATS this year, with a 42-35-2 over/under record.

Boston had a tough time on the road last week, but returning home to face a struggling Sandy Alcantara may fare well for them.  Alcantara just hasn’t been himself this season, and this spot at Fenway could cause him trouble after allowing five or more runs in three of four starts this month. The Red Sox should be able to bounce back here, so back them for this interleague matchup.
