F1 Team Principals rank best drivers of 2022 season

The 10 Formula 1 Team Principals have ranked Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc as their best drivers of the 2022 season.

In a secret vote of the bosses by F1, they were tasked with ranking their top 10 drivers of the campaign, using the standard points system of 25 for first down to one point for 10th.

These were then tallied up to give a final result, with a maximum of 250 points up for grabs for the winner.

As the table shows, Max Verstappen received 207 points, but was comfortably ahead of title runner-up Charles Leclerc.

One real life absentee

Nine of the drivers included on the team bosses top 10 finished in the top 10 in real life, with only Esteban Ocon missing out.

The Alpine driver finished eighth in the standings, and ahead of teammate Fernando Alonso, beating him by 11 points.

However, Ocon does not rank in their top 10, with his place going to Sebastian Vettel of Aston Martin who finished 12th in his final season.

The big fallers are Sergio Perez and Carlos Sainz who finished third and fifth in the 2022 season, respectively.

According to the team bosses, they were ranked fifth and seventh, respectively both falling two places, while Lewis Hamilton was the big mover, up from a career-worst sixth in 2022 to fourth in the bosses rankings.
