Heat sign Kevin Love: Veteran forward lands in Miami after getting buyout from Cavaliers

Kevin Love has found a new NBA home. After agreeing to a buyout with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday, Love will sign with the Miami Heat for the remainder of the season, he confirmed Sunday. Love also talked with the Philadelphia 76ers before deciding to sign with the Heat. With the Heat he figures to have a sizable role as Miami makes a playoff push over the backend of the season.  In Miami, Love will provide the Heat with some added frontcourt depth, giving them a floor spacing forward who can still knock down 3s at a high clip. On the season, Love is shooting 35 percent from long range, and he's a career 37 percent shooter from beyond the arc.  Love suited up for the Cavs for nine seasons from 2014 to 2023 and played an integral role when the team made four straight NBA Finals appearances from 2015 to 2018 and captured the first championship in franchise History in 2016. He was the last remaining me...

Fixing NBA's Slam Dunk Contest: The event can't attract stars anymore, so why not make it a team contest?

The NBA dealt with a bit of a backlash when it announced that then-G-Leaguer/current Philadelphia 76ers two-way guard Mac McClung would participate in the Slam Dunk Contest. The event takes place at the NBA's All-Star weekend, and McClung wasn't technically an NBA player when he was announced as a competitor. So why is he participating? Well... let's take a look at the three NBA players he'll be competing against. Ignore their meager statistical credentials for a moment and consider their standing within the wider world. Trey Murphy III, Jericho Sims and KJ Martin have roughly 353,000 combined Instagram followers. That'd be impressive in almost any other context. It's less than half of McClung's 821,000 Instagram followers. The G-Leaguer is more famous than the big-leaguers he's competing against, and as the event is technically called the "AT&T Slam Dunk Contest" with...

Respawn Is Still Being Coy About Star Wars Jedi: Survivor's Blaster Stance

Despite going into detail on every other stance that's going to be in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Respawn is still being strangely coy about the Blaster stance. One of the worst-kept secrets in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor (which, in itself is one of gaming's worst-kept secrets of the last few years) is that Cal Kestis is going to follow in Han Solo's footsteps and have a good blaster by his side this time around. This was first teased with the blaster appearing at his side in the reveal trailer, before being spotted on a Cal Kestis toy, and then finally being confirmed by Respawn. Related: Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Needs To Double Down On The Dark Souls You'd think that since Respawn has officially confirmed that the "Blaster stance" is going to appear in Jedi: Survivor, it'd be showing it off alongside the other revealed movesets, but that's not the case. In a recent video from IGN showcasing Game play of the new stances and explaining how they al...

SR-71 Blackbird 200.000 USD

Image
The SR-71 Blackbird was a long-range reconnaissance plane with remarkable performance characteristics: Mach 3 speed, and 85,000 service ceiling, and an 11,820 foot per minute rate of climb. The SR-71 was so fast that to evade surface-to-air missiles, the jet would simply accelerate to outrun missiles. But the SR-71 was also remarkably expensive to operate – which is why after the Cold War ended, Congress axed the Blackbird spy plane. Specialized and Distinct Components Every last component of the Blackbird was specialized and distinct; the jet needed to do things no other jet could do. As a result, the SR-71 shared roughly zero commonality with any other airframe. So, building, operating, and maintaining the plane also required specialized and distinct components. That’s expensive – and logistically complicated. For example, the SR-71 required specialized fuel. Whereas most U.S. Military jets were content to guzzle JP-4 or later JP-8, the standard fuel grade for U.S. ...

The Tu-95LAL was the first nuclear-powered aircraft in Soviet Union

Image
During the Cold War, the Soviet Union had an experimental nuclear - powered aircraft program similar to the American Convair XB-36H Crusader. Without the need to refuel, a nuclear-powered aircraft will have a very wide range compared to conventional designs. XB-36H Crusader nuclear-powered test aircraft On August 12, 1955, the Council of Ministers of the USSR issued a directive to research nuclear-powered aircraft. The design departments of Andrei Tupolev, Vladimir Myasishchev became the main responsible unit, while ND Kuznetsov and AM Lyulka were appointed to develop the engine. They chose to focus on direct-cycle systems, testing ramjets, jet engines and even turboprop engines. Tupolev’s office knows the complexity of the task at hand, estimating that it will take two decades before a complete prototype is created. They think this type of aircraft may appear in the late 1970s or early 1980s. To gain experience, Tupolev suggested building a flight test platfor...
